Abstract

The article mainly presents direct and indirect literal calques of the modern Armenian language: it also discusses their use in speech and issues of teaching. It is known that internal enrichment or development of vocabulary occurs both through the formation of new words and through the use of existing words with new meanings. Part of the vocabulary of the modern Armenian language consists of calqued words, which have their own specific features and require special study. The article presents various methods and means of this type of borrowing in the modern Armenian language, as well as effective approaches to their teaching. The presented linguistic realities are illustrated with relevant examples. Modern forms of communication provide ample opportunities for cooperation among communities speaking different languages. This becomes the basis for linguistic and cultural interpenetration, the clash of different customs and traditions, and tolerance.
