Publication ethics

Editorial board of the journal is committed to upholding the standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. If such violations are found, the editors may reject the article. Editors of the periodical have a full right to reject the work from publication in case of revealing any such malpractices.

Guarantees
Authors who submit their articles to the periodical should guarantee that their article and its essential substance have not previously been published and are not being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors who submit their works for publication must confirm that they have disclosed any conflicts of interest regarding authorship and publication of the work and must identify the publisher against any breach of such warranty.
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal’s editorial board to retract or correct the paper.

Permission to use the content
Authors should present a written permission to use any content that has not been created by them in their works if required.
Editors will not submit for publication any article containing data that the author is not authorized to use.

The required rights are as follows:

  • Non-exclusive rights to reproduce the material in the article.
  • Print and electronic rights
  • Unlimited use of materials (i.e. there should be no restrictions on the reuse of material)

The reuse of tables, figures or paragraphs of another person’s work is permitted if the author gives a full attribution of sources and refers to the source in the reference list. If the other source undergoes any changes, it is incumbent on the author to cite the source.

According to the journal’s publication policy it is not allowed:

  • Verbatim copyright of another person’s work without citing the author.
  • Non accurate paraphrasing of another person’s work where more than one sentence within a paragraph or section of a text has been altered or sentences have been rearranged without an appropriate attribution. Non accurate paraphrasing is a verbatim copying.
  • Reuse of elements of other person’s work (e.g. the use of a figure, table or paragraph without acknowledgment, references or the use of quotation marks) without citing the author.
  • Self-plagiarism:  Authors must sign a copyright form that states that his work has not been previously published. If the elements of a work have been published before in other publication, including “Journal for Armenian studies” it is incumbent on the author to attribute to his earlier work and indicate how the subsequent work differs and builds upon with the results and conclusions contained in the earlier work. Verbatim copying of your own work and paraphrasing is unacceptable, they could become a basis for new conclusions.
  • The materials that authors have prepared beforehand during the research related with the article, conference papers and presentations of seminars must be included in the reference list.

Handling allegations of plagiarism
Editors uphold the standards of academic ethics, protect authors’ rights and take the cases of plagiarism seriously; an allegation of plagiarism could have its impact on a researcher’s career. In such cases a special system is used, which deals with alleged cases of plagiarism.

The manuscripts are screened for plagiarism with the help of eTXT (https://www.etxt.ru/antiplagiat/) or Advego (https://advego.com/antiplagiat/#plagiatus-programma-proverki-unikalnosti) applications.

For the unbiased approach, the editors of the journal thoroughly investigate each case and study arguments of all parties. Before undertaking further measures, editors try to get more accurate information from the original author or copyright holder. Editors’ decision is unbiased, objective and is not influenced by other third parties.

Editors have a full right to ignore cases of alleged plagiarism, if the complainant presents false individual information (e.g. introduces himself with a nickname) or acts in an inappropriate or threatening manner.

Editors are not obliged to discuss cases of alleged plagiarism with third parties.
