Abstract

The article discusses the theoretical foundations of teaching the complex course "Fashion design" in the context of national costume. An attempt has been made to identify the problems of teaching students in clothing modeling at higher educational institutions, their methodological and technological meaning in the process of studying national costume.

In accordance with the requirements of the modern higher education system, in modern times there is a need for new approaches to teaching “Clothing Composition” and "Fashion design”, which are able to successfully solve modern problems of art education.

These new approaches during the teaching of the complex course "Fashion design"  must comply with the modern requirements of professional activity. Such are the following main provisions of higher education:

  • use the acquired knowledge, abilities and skills in professional activities,
  • apply graphic, pictorial and plastic methods in developing and designing original projects,
  • find new and creative solutions for each project,
  • develop artistic and graphic designs of clothes and embody them in the material,
  • organize artistic, creative, performing and initiative activities.

The content of artistic and aesthetic education, as well as the teaching of the complex course "Fashion design" should contribute not only to the formation of respect and self-awareness towards the national, but also towards world history and cultural heritage, as well as the recognition of national and global values, which will expand and enrich the students' ideas and horizons.
