Բողոքականությունը արևմտահայության շրջանում հիմնականում տարածվել է ամերիկյան միսիոներների միջոցով 19-րդ դարի առաջին տասնամյակներից: Արդեն դարի վերջերին հայ բողոքականների թվաքանակը, հատկապես Արևմտյան Հայաստանի տարածքում, զգալի աճում է: Օսմանյան կայսրության տարծքում քիրստոնյաների, մասնավորապես հայերի, շրջանում քարոզչություն իրականացնելու նպատակով գործունեություն իրականացրած ամերիկացի առաջին միսիոներներից էր Հարիսոն Գրեյ Օթիս Դուայթի։ Վերջինս կայսրության հայերի շրջանում իր քարոզչական գործունեությունը ներկայացրել իր հեղինակած «Արևելքում վերածնված քրիստոնեությունը կամ պատմություն Աստծո գործի Թուրքիայի հայերի շրջանում» խորագրով աշխատության մեջ։ Սույն հոդվածում անդրադառնում ենք նշված աշխատությանը՝ ցույց տալով դրա աղբյուրագիտական նշանակությունը հայերի շրջանում բողոքականության տարածման պատմության ուսումնասիրման համար։ Հոդվածում քննության են ենթարկվում նաև հեղինակի ընկալումներն ու սկզբունքները, ինչպես նաև սուբյեկտիվ մոտեցումները ներկայացված փաստերի և իրադարձությունների հարցում։
