From the point of view of shaping the cultural context of each nation, it is necessary to identify the values of the past, to study them comprehensively and to evaluate them properly. This is also relevant in science. Linguistic analysis is widely used in the complex study of medieval historiographical works.
Kirakos Gandzaketsi, a 13th century historian, clergyman and public figure, has a valuable place in Armenian medieval historiographical prose. Due to his active work, Archimandrite Kirakos Gandzaketsi was well known and enjoyed respect in Armenia, playing a significant role in many issues. His bibliographic work is composed mainly of a large historical work, the literary work "Armenian History", in which the historian presents deep, comprehensive knowledge.
Summarizing the study of the semantic groups of word composition of the work "History of Armenia" by Kirakos Gandzaketsi, a bright and prominent representative of the Armenian historiography of the 13th century, the following conclusions have been drawn:
- Synonyms and antonyms comprise a significant part of the investigated examples of the above-mentioned groups in the historian's book, and there are relatively few homonyms: 21 examples of homonyms have been identified.
- Only homonymous binomial series (48 series) have been identified in the work investigated.
- There are a number of examples of similar (21 pairs) and of different root (23 pairs) antonyms.
- The examples introduced prove that synonyms, antonyms and homonyms presented in the historian's book are mostly collaborative in nature, i.e. it can be pointed out that the phenomena are mainly characterized by some expected features.
- As is evident from the given examples, the synonyms, antonyms and homonyms in the historian's book stand out due to their variety of semantic fields.
- The word composition of Gandzaketsi's work is unconditionally of Grabar origin, but at the same time it has some common features with the language structure of the period when the historian lived.
