1908 the Young Turks did revolution in Turkey and gained power. Constitutional order was established in the country, which enabled Armenian political forces to operate freely. Welcoming the political changes in the country from the Armenian political structures, the Hnchakyan Party showed a cautious approach towards the new political force. Understanding the nationalist nature of the Young Turks, Honchakyans considered the preparation and arming of the people for self-defense an urgent problem in their circulars.
Among the Armenian political parties, the Social-Democratic Honchakyan Party in America in 1908-1914. took certain steps to protect the interests of Western Armenians. In 1908 S.D.H.K is trying to realize the self-defense of Western Armenians in a constitutional way. on this basis, the party in America decides to materially support the Center in the liberation of Western Armenians and use its influence to organize this work on the ground. Based on the existing facts, it becomes clear that the party, deviating from its main goal, allocates its funds not to the support of Western Armenians on the spot, but to the publication of the newspaper. From all this it can be concluded that in 1908-14 both in America and elsewhere, the party did not carry out full and effective activities in the self-defense of Western Armenians.
