The issues studied in the work and the ways and methods of their solution are relevant, since the number of foreign students is increasing year by year in parallel with the internationalization of universities, and lecturers use various methods and means to increase the effectiveness of their teaching of the Armenian language.
The work highlights the peculiarities of teaching Armenian as a foreign language, presents the problems that lecturers face when teaching and students when learning, and shows the ways to solve them.
The purpose of this work is to reveal the similarities and differences between the grammatical systems of two Indo-European languages, Armenian and English, as well as to show the effectiveness of applying the method of comparative analysis of languages in the process of teaching Armenian as a foreign language.
In the work, a comparative analysis of the grammatical order of the noun number was carried out using the above-mentioned method, and through numerous examples, the similarities and differences in the formation of the plural of the noun were shown, special attention was paid to the exceptions that are found in both languages.
In addition to Armenian and English, examples of the comparison of the plural number were given both within the Indo-European language family and within the framework of languages that do not belong to the Old European language family.
The teaching methods and techniques presented in the article have been tested for years during practical classes and have yielded positive results: the level of knowledge of the Armenian language of foreign students has increased, and written and oral speech has developed.
