About 100 years ago, a treaty was signed between the Turkish Sultanate and the Entente countries, where there was a reference to the Armenian question. Turkey recognized the independence of Armenia. According to this treaty, the President of the United States of America Woodrow Wilson was asked to draw the borders of the future independent Armenia. These borders were to pass within within the boundaries of Erzurum, Van, Bitlisi, Trabzon (Trebizond). However, Woodrow Wilson made an arbitration decision on the borders quite late, on November 22, 1920. However, the Treaty of Sevres never came into force. But one thing remained a fact: 875 years after the painful fall of Bagratid Armenia, as well as 545 years after the fall of the Cilician Kingdom, the right of the Armenian people to restore an independent state on the Armenian Highlands was recognized as invalid at the international level.
This was a phenomenon of great importance, since the right of the Armenian people to self-determination on their historical territory was recognized, and this was a very encouraging fact for the solution of the Armenian Question, but the provisions of the treaty were not implemented. This problem has always been at the center of our scientific and historical thought. There are many studies, books and articles devoted to this problem, and today, 100 years later, an attempt is being made to examine the philosophy of the Treaty of Sèvres and why it could not have been realized. We hope that a historical situation will be created in which this problem will be solved anyway.
