The article addresses the manifestations of orthography and orthoepy of [M]-[N] in contemporary literary Eastern Armenian. Although the orthography of the classical literary language was generally based on the principle “one sound - one letter,” manuscript sources from that period indicate the existence of orthographic variants caused by interactive phonetic changes and their influence on the written language. The orthography and orthoepy of [M]-[N] were similarly subject to such influences.
In modern Armenian, the rules for writing [M]-[N] are well established; however, deviations in pronunciation are often observed, which can create challenges in correct spelling.
The author emphasizes the importance of the morphological structure of words, recommends adherence to orthographic rules, and encourages the use of orthographic dictionaries.
