Abstract

Based on pedagogical experience and specialized research, we have determined that reading ability is a combination of diverse and multi-level skills. The process of developing these skills is primarily based on the methods, methodological tools, and information technologies used, which collectively contribute to the development and formation of reading proficiency.

The new state educational standards of the Republic of Armenia, along with the native language programs and textbooks, were reviewed and analyzed. These materials support the development of reading ability in primary school students.

However, through comparative analysis, we found that textbooks developed in accordance with the new educational standards contribute more significantly to the development and formation of reading ability and skills.

In this context, we would like to emphasize our position that, for textbooks written in the native language and based on the new state educational standards—when used simultaneously in the same grade levels—it is essential to establish consistent principles. This includes defining common components, clear requirements for educational materials, and unified methodological approaches and structures.
